The residential unit comprises the old building and various smaller extensions that have been added over the last 12 years. All rooms have en-suite facilities and are in excess of minimum standards, some of the rooms are very big and some have fantastic views over the Towy estuary. Whilst the main part of the building is not purpose built it has been sympathetically converted to provide high quality facilities and has kept the characterful features from when it was a mansion house. The residential unit caters for older people in general and also those suffering from mild symptoms of dementia. Briefly facilities include:
Day space – We have four large lounges on the front of the building which offer residents a choice of where to sit. We also have a lounge which offers privacy for visitors and family.
New nurse call system – We recently upgraded our nurse call system so that all bedrooms have in room sensors and door sensors. This allows staff to offer further assistance particularly at night.
Telephone points – Each bedroom has its own telephone extension allowing residents to make calls in the privacy of their own room. We also have a number of portable DECT phones which can be taken anywhere in the building.
Wi-Fi access points – Most of the building has high speed Wi-Fi connectivity for those wishing to access the internet. Some rooms also have data points.
TV points – All bedrooms are fitted with TVs and some have satellite connections for those who wish to have SKY or Freesat installed.
Trained staff – All of our staff have or are undergoing formal training to at least QCF level II. We realise the importance to our residents of having continuity of care staff and as a result of investing heavily in training and developing our staff we benefit from a generally low staff turnover. We have several staff who have been with us for over 10 years.
Outdoor space – Residents have step free access to outdoor patio areas which being on the front of the building benefit from views over the Towy estuary and also some stunning sunsets.
Additionally for use of all residents in the home there is
- A large screen cinema room
- A Hairdressing salon
- Assisted bathrooms
- Home cooked meals using high quality local produce
- Full time laundry staff
- Wheelchair access vehicles
- 13 person hydraulic lift
- Secure keypad access to the building
- Regular concerts and activities
